'Dame Chocolate' (Give Me Chocolate) is a Spanish-language telenovela airing on the United States-based television network Telemundo. It premiered on March 5, 2007. Puerto Rican singer Carlos Ponce stars. The story features Rosita Amado (Génesis Rodríguez), an ugly, shy girl from rural Mexico who inherits a fortune. When her uncle in the United States -- who was known as "The Chocolate King" -- dies, she learns she is the sole surviving person with the secret to the ancient Mayan chocolate recipe that made him rich. So the heroine comes to the US to to fulfill her destiny. She finds love with chocolatier Bruce Remington (Ponce), the heir to a candy factory on the verge of bankruptcy. Dame Chocolate's cast also includes María Antonieta de las Nieves, Héctor Suárez, Kristina Lilley, Khotán, Ricardo Chávez, Karla Monroig and Jessica Pacheco, among others. The novela is directed by Luis Manzo. It was filmed in Florida. Génesis Rodríguez, daughter of Venezuelan singer José Luis Rodríguez, was made less attractive with a false nose and teeth. |
